Hoboken Sound--Chris Stamey 1985

In 1985, NYC's WNEW-TV (Ch 5) ran a special on the Hoboken music scene. One segment spotlighted Chris Stamey.

Re: Hoboken Sound--Chris Stamey 1985

The whole thing was posted on YouTube. Great segments on The Bongos, Gutbank (how I miss them), The Cucumbers, etc.

I'm not big on sentimentality, but I got really misty-eyed watching these clips.

Re: Re: Hoboken Sound--Chris Stamey 1985

Hoboken was a wonderful music-place in the mid-80's. Between Maxwell's, Pier Platters, Coyote Records, and all of the area bands, there was a definite excitement to the area.

Does anyone know what ever happened to Steve Fallon?

Re: Re: Re: Hoboken Sound--Chris Stamey 1985

He seems to still be in the N.Y. area--a year ago, he was at Maxwell's, so he may still live somewhere around here.

I still miss Pier Platters and stuff on Coyote. Pier Platters had two great shops--the main store and then the import/CD section. The last truly cool record store in the area.
