I am the great grand nephew of Roland Maurice Purnell. He was one of the 2 young scouts drownws in The Mirror Tragedy when the Ketch The Mirror which had been donated to the Leander Sea Scouts was run down at Gravesend on the Thames. 4 people lost their lives, 2 young scouts and 2 leaders.

Please see my email, Colin, about my late father (Charles [Tug] Wilson)\'s time as a Rover Scout in Changi POW camp. He was much influenced by a fellow Rover there: an Australian Padre whose Christian name was Rowan. Had I been a boy, I would have been named Rowan. The sons of 2 of my father\'s closest UK fellow Rovers from that time were named Rowan when they were born after the war.
On the only occasion when I have spoken to an Archbishop of Canterbury, I asked Rowan Williams if there was a reason of a Changi connection for his Christian name. There wasn\'t!

Thank you for all of your research. I am a former Los Angeles Times reporter, now writing a book about the Boy Scouts of America, including its ineligible volunteer files, also known as the perversion files. I\'m seeking information on Baden Powell\'s \"grey list\" or \"grey files\" (perhaps \"gray\"), which I think are sort of predecessor to the BSA\'s files.
