Hey Sarit, yep Mikes right he is going for the arm bar, although it seems he should have let go long before if he didnt have it properly. Theres a debate on the comments that the other guy had tapped and he was letting go and then got slammed, but pretty hard to tell. Yeah lets go over it next session- as for film should we just meet at 7 at the front of Odeon? Think after work might be too much of a rush to do joint dinner?
Tone, course you haven't upset me, I'm just picking on you
Right, Mike and I are meeting at 6pm by the TKTS booth in Leic Sq. Then we'll see anyone else who's coming (J & S hopefully ) at the Odeon Leic Sq at 7.40.
Happy Monday y'all.
Please have your secretaries put Saturday 13th November in your diaries for karaoke and dinner (or just dinner for those who hate karaoke, or just karaoke for those who hate eating).
I'm setting this up as an event on Facebook to keep the chi of the forum untainted! In other words, please don't contact me about it on the forum.
If you're not on FB please give me your email address.

This is a friday at 7.45pm and he asked for my support, so I will be there and the omni team are welcome. Its a little pricey and tickets are limited so let me soon as poss if you want to come for the experience, I need to let him know asap in next couple of days. The cost is 30 per ticket- but i will be refunding the class at £5 so you could put that towards it.
A long message but plenty to say- I look forward to your calls!
Hey Guys, for those who reserved tickets the address is :
Kensington Town Hall, Hornton Street, London W8 7NX.
Doors open at 7 when I will be arriving, if you can be there for that time would be great so we can sit together as a club. If that's impossible Chris has told me the all the fights are starting around 7.45, but he doesn't know when his fight is. Any questions please bell me on my mobe, come on Chris, 'best Karate still inside !!!!'

Hah great- looks like the guy probably is actually pretty good by the technique but looks like he's pretty drunk so totally misjudges his space! Silly chavs
Hi guys xmas training times update for you, as most of you know there are no more tuesdays this year, and additionally this Friday 10th is the last session left before new year (as ill be away in Spain for xmas). As it means there are not the usual amount of sessions this month I will be sending back a fair refund to each person, depending on their type of subscription.
Training is all back to normal on Tues Jan 4th, and as this Fri is the last would be great to see you there if you can make it- and we can drop down to the local pub for a quick xmas drink after depending on numbers etc. Ps I will also be bringing down the new premium club approved leather mma gloves to try.
Take care all and Merry Xmas and Happy New Year if we dont see you,
All the best for 2011. To kick things off, here's the sangria recipe that I promised Joe ages ago:
Equal quantities of red wine and orange juice
Some brandy
Some orange liqueur, e.g. Triple Sec (optional)
Fruit, cut into segments
Caster sugar
Soda water
Notes:
1. The more brandy and liqueur you add, the more your sangria will end up like a cocktail rather than a punch. Your choice!
2. You can sub lemonade for soda and sugar and no-one will be able to tell. But I like having sugar so that people can adjust the sweetness for themselves.
3. Don't use a blue-coloured liqueur such as blue curação. It turns the drink brown (as I discovered at Joe's). Triple sec and Grand Marnier are both good options.
4. Having good orange juice is more important than having good wine for sangria. Freshly squeezed is best.
And finally, it seems that no post on this board is quite complete without a dose of lulz:
An important update- most of you already know this from being at the last few sessions but just to make sure everyone is aware. With regret and alot of hard thought over the xmas period, I have come to the conclusion that it is proving too much for me to make sure I am am there every session twice per week.
It has been going well and thats why its been a hard decision for me especially as its a great location. I have been keeping it up with all students being able to pick and choose- but for me it was starting to go from something I love to do to being more of a second job.
If you have any further questions or thoughts on this please speak to me directly rather than on here- but just to point out:
1) There will be no more Tuesday classes for the immediate future (there are discussions with school for the future to restart once mats are ordered and in place).
2)For those of you who have paid for 2 weekly sessions you will be refunded the rest of the month back.
3)Please change if needed your standing orders back to 19.99 starting first of Feb.
I recommend for those loving twice a week training to keep that time for yourself to get some weights and keep it as a regular weekly body building session to compliment your training - more on this later.
Hi guys, just a follow up from previous message- most of you have now updated your standing orders for 19.99 on start of the month, but a few of you still had the 29.99 go through. I have refunded this again for those who forgot (and I have details for), but please change this now for your own sake or next month I will see the extra as a very kind donation .
I spoke to the class end of last session but for those who missed it. I have been doing every Friday for 6 years without fail to make sure there is a class for those who want to come, but I always missed out the luxury of being able to have a few free days off.
I have come up with a solution I feel happy with, I realised there are approx 4 months per year where there is an extra Fri, ie most months you pay 19.99 for 4 sessions at a fiver each- but those specific 4 months you would get a free fifth class. I have decided it would be great for me to take these as a breather and gives me a few Friday nights out per year ;).
This basically means its YOUR responsibility to remember that if the month has 5 fridays that last one is NO CLASS! For example this month is normal every fri, and next month on April 29th we all get the evening off.
This does not effect any standing orders etc- just means classes now are an exact £5 per session- instead of approx £4.62.
If your going to see the Queen, do you think she will come training on the following Friday. You could ask her what her kicks are like. Im sure she would be more than willing to have a go.
Seriously though, I think thats fine. Have a couple of fridays off James and we can conduct the class on our own outside in the car park...
Here's Stallone kickin Stone Cold Steve Austin's b*tt mma style - love the take down!! The arm bar seems to be a bit pointless though - unless someone can explain?
Just a note to say Im missing the training. Have been having problems with chest pains. Went to see an osteopath, she cracked some bones and Im feeling a little better. However I am under instructions not to train for the time being. All things being good I should be back next week. So Im afraid you will have to be patient for your beating Ali, but dont worry your time will come.
London Marathon, Cancer Research UK and a couple of random videos
Hi Everyone,
I am running the London Marathon for Cancer Research UK this Sunday. It will be my first marathon. Cancer has played a significant role in my life to date which is why I chose to run for them. I am posting a message here to ask for sponsorship. Cancer Research UK is one of the world's leading NGOs in the fight against cancer and I am proud to be running for them. If you would like to give anything - please go to my sponsorship webpage:
http://www.runningsponsorme.org/alexandertate .
I feel that given that this is the oma forum that it is not fitting not to include something martial arts related - I found this peculiar US ad on you tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuSBCIV1zuQ and if you make to the end of this little gem "Yeah... See ya" I think eclipses Arnie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxkr4wS7XqY&feature=related .
Hi Guys hope you are all enjoying the bank hols, just a reminder that this Friday is a fifth Friday of the month and therefore there is NO class.
Also to let you know we have a new optional summer MMA club shorts you can buy to wear instead of the trousers. I was using them them last session and have a few orders for the warmer weather. Please contact me directly (not on here) and I can order you some, and I can get 10 pounds off the price for you. They are have split sides and elastic inner leg for high kicks, velcro fly with no pockets for grappling and made of strong and lightweight material (from the same copmpany as the new gloves).
I will be running 10km on Monday 30th May on behalf of The Children's Trust.
Am hoping with all your support to raise as much as possible for the charity who do some great work providing care, therapy and education for children with multiple disabilities and complex health needs. Thanks!
